Our History & Experience

SafiBio was founded in 2017 by Olivier Agouna-Deciat, an experienced biomedical R&D scientist and serial entrepreneur. Our founder, his partners and executive team members share a combined 25+ years of experience in biomedical and biotechnology R&D, agricultural and agroecology R&D and production, agricultural and agroforestry value chain development and implementation, new product development and manufacturing, international supply chain management, business management, finance, social economics, education, import-export and much more.

The story of SafiBio takes roots in the early years of Olivier’s entrepreneurial experience, dating back to 2004. This journey lead through a series of opportunities and learning experience related to innovation in the shea butter value chain and the development, production and marketing of Shea Touch, their own line of cosmeceutical products.

SafiBio LLC founded in Dallas, Texas, USA 2017

SafiBio LLC founded in Dallas, Texas, USA

Olivier Agouna-Deciat launches SafiBio LLC based on a collaboration with Dr Pinakeen Patel of Bills Biotech PVT LTD in India to develop and market fermentation derived antibiotics and immunosuppressants. The main goal is to establish the business in Africa.

SafiBio launched in West Africa 2018

SafiBio launched in West Africa

Launching of SafiBio SARL in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire as an extension of SafiBio LLC. Bactecidin (mupirocin ointment – a topical antibiotic) and Graften (Tacrolimus pills – an immunosuppressant) were submitted for registration an authorization to market them in Cote d’Ivoire.

Interest in sustainable agriculture and development of bio-inputs as a solution to farmers needs for healthy and efficient products. Launch of collaborative R&D with Bills Biotech and Agriland Biotech for the development of a comprehensive approach that resulted in the development of BIOJANI products, our line of bacterial based biofertilizers and phyto bioprotectors. The initial tests were performed on cocoa plantations in the region of Gagnoa in mid-western Cote d’Ivoire with great results, leading to the expending the trials to other crops including palm oil trees, rice, corn and a variety of vegetables.

Official launch of BIOJANI in Cote d'Ivoire

Obtention of governmental permits and authorization to market our line of biological agricultural inputs BIOJANI. Official launch of production and marketing of BIOJANI started in Gagnoa and surroundings and was also introduced as far as Korhogo in the North of the country through a partnership with BFCD-WFP, for a program to empower women farmers.

Launch of our sustainability coaching program

SafiBio initiated and started its organic conversion and sustainable production coaching program in February. This program would constitute the foundation of SafiBio Farms, our sustainable agrifood solutions unit specialized in production and marketing of food crops.

Pursuit of the penetration of the Ivorian market and extension campaign in several regions of the country with our BIOJANI products.

SafiBio Farms launched and approved as supplier by WFP

Official launch of SafiBio Farms with our sustainable plantation/farm management service and start of commercial production of organic habanero peppers in Cote d’Ivoire.

SafiBio is approved and registered as an official supplier of the World Food Program (WFP) in Cote d’Ivoire.
